Three-Session Intro to Clay - Individually Scheduled
Y’all asked and we answered! For those that would like a supportive introduction to working with clay, with an opportunity to try out wheel-throwing and basic hand-building techniques, consider this intro class consisting of three one-hour work-sessions.
Groups or couples are welcome to do this together, but we cannot accomodate more than 4 at a time. Feel free to reach out via email (cornelia@pawpaw.studio) or dm to schedule the first session prior to purchase or after if you are flexible. Each additional session will be scheduled with us after the previous one is completed.
What to expect:
1st - We’ll go over preparing the clay to work with and a few methods to build items out of clay. Depending on your preferences, we can gear the instruction more towards diving into wheel-throwing or stick with hand-building techniques, but, either way, the intro will include a little bit of everything to give you a well-rounded intro.
2nd - Practice time - By this point, you will decide on a project to focus on for honing your skills - such as a cup, bowl, plate, or sculptural object. With as much guidance and help as you would like, you can continue to practice throwing or handbuilding in working on your project at your own pace! We will also teach you some skills for refinining leather-hard clay prior to firing.
3rd - By this session students should have some work that has been bisque fired. You can spend this hour of work time glazing your bisque fired piece(s), and if there is extra time or you prefer, you’re also welcome to continue practicing throwing or making something usign any method you prefer.
After the three sessions, we will have each others’ contact info, and I’ll let you know when the final glazed pieces are finished!
