For those curious about working with clay, this flexible intro experience offers a supportive introduction to both wheel throwing and handbuilding, plus time to return and practice on your own.
• One 2-hour introductory lesson with guided instruction
• 2 hours of Open Studio credit to return and continue working independently
• Access to studio tools, equipment, and glazes
Clay is included in your first session and can be purchased separately at open studio visits after our first lesson ($5/lb, which includes glazing and firing).
During your 2-hour lesson we’ll cover the fundamentals of working with clay. Depending on your interests, we can spend more time on wheel throwing or handbuilding, but most sessions include a little of both so you leave with a well-rounded introduction.
You’ll learn:
• How to prepare clay for working
• Basic wheel throwing techniques
• Simple handbuilding methods
• Tips for shaping and refining forms
By the end of the session most students will have 1–3 pieces in progress.
Your package includes 2 hours of Open Studio time, which you can use during our regular open hours to:
• Continue practicing wheel throwing or handbuilding
• Trim or refine your pieces
• Glaze work once it has been bisque fired
Studio staff will be around to answer questions, but open studio is primarily independent work time.
After purchasing, please email cornelia@pawpaw.studio or send a DM to schedule your intro lesson. Open studio time can be used whenever it fits your schedule during posted open hours.
We’ll let you know when your finished pieces are ready for pickup!
Individual – $100
Two People – $190 ($95/person)
Three People – $270 ($90/person)
