Sun Face Workshop with Susan DeMay
A Two-Part Handbuilding & Glazing Workshop
April 25 & May 16 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Celebrate the arrival of spring with a special two-part ceramics workshop led by local artist Susan DeMay. In this class, students will create a decorative ceramic sun face designed to hang as wall art for the home or garden.
During the first session (April 25), students will handbuild their sun face using slump molds, while learning techniques for texturing, carving, and appliqué to create expressive faces and radiant sun designs.
After the pieces are bisque fired, the group will return for the second session (May 16) to glaze their work. Susan is well known for her distinctive glazing style and expertise with ceramic surfaces, and she will guide students through glazing techniques to bring their sun faces to life with color and character.
